Christmas 2009

I just wanted to post a picture...trying to learn how to do all this blogging stuff. A great pic of 3 of my beautiful children and 3 of our animals. Our oldest son was working at the time and our lives are so busy I wondered if I would even get a picture in front of the tree. Our Christmas was soooo awesome this year...a White Christmas and all! The only thing missing was the boys this year...it was their Christmas this year to be at their mother's. I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas and hope the New year is even better!

Pondering the New Year....

As the new year is upon us...I'm again pondering what goals I need for myself! Of course the number one on the list is always weight loss!!! But it never seems to happen and I always have the excuse not to do it and by the end of the year feel so guilty that I haven't done this for myself. I REALLY want to do this...I know it's the best thing for me and my family. I want to be here for my girls when I'm older. I want to set the example to them of what you need to do to keep your body and mind healthy. My mother has always done her best at keeping herself in shape and always looking awesome...even so, many people who didn't know us thought we were sisters. Why is it so hard to tell your mind not to eat this little cookie or that little piece of pie...why is sooo hard to tell your mind we are going to go walk for an hour today...why does my mind allow me to put these things off and let myself feel soooo much guilt when the day is done and I've done nothing? So, I'm REALLY going to try hard in 2010 to make some goals for myself and stick to them...I know my kids and I will be better off for it. What about you my friends...maybe we could all stick together and help each other out? Let me know...

Daylight at Dinner

Today is the day I have been looking forward to for the past 4 months....The day that my life turns a page and is happier. The shortest day of the year!!!! For most of my adult life the Fall makes me depressed and unhappy...for me there is nothing worse than shorter days of daylight, cold days and nights, and eating dinner when it is dark outside. You see, I'm a gardening person. I love to have sunshine coming through my windows with my windows up. There is nothing more wonderful than the smell of your lawn being mowed for the first time since November. It's awesome to finally have the kids outside... playing and yelling instead of in the house!!! There is so much to look forward to from here on out...Christmas, New Years, my Birthday, Valentines Day, March Madness, Easter, and my clock being moved forward only to lose that hour of sleep. So here's to you Winter Solstice...you bring joy to my life and I will be toasting to you and the end of short days and long nights!!! Bring on the Champagne....

Mesmerized

I love my children...each one is different in their own special way! My youngest, Liz, I consider my artist in the family. She is is good at art, plays the piano, and even is good at performing. She actually relishes getting up on stage and isn't afraid to be first in line to perform at her piano recital.

This morning I turned the videos on VH1 because I thought both girls weren't moving too quickly and I figured the music would get them up and about. First was Lady Gaga, then Daughtry, then Adam Lambert...Liz moved a little bit but she kept going back to watch. She asked my why they did that stuff...what does it mean mom...how do they do that? Of course, as a mom of an 8 year old I probably shouldn't be letting her watch a Lady Gaga video. But, coming from a home I grew up in with a mom who was a music teacher I learned early on about Arts and Entertainment and that is exactly what it is...a little extravagant at times I believe. Adam Lambert turned me off at the American Music Awards with his raunchy performance, but it is art and to each his own. Liz and I have had the talk about how they are artists, performing their art in a way they feel reveals the words and meaning behind the song to the world. I have also told her just because they do what they do in a music video doesn't mean she can go out into the world or at school and perform, act out what she is seeing in these performances!!!!

Anyway, as I'm trying to get ready this morning and I look out into the living room my Liz, the performer and artist, was mesmerized by these music videos. Carrie Underwood was on with her new hit "Cowboy Casanova." Liz never moved...never even blinked an eye...she looked like she was looking at the most amazing art piece in the world. Mesmerized....and I was mesmerized looking and watching my beautiful, wonderful daughter!

Starting Again...

I love my life and I want everyone to know it...I started a blog at the start of this year. Well, it didn't go so well! I did about 3 blogs and never came back. So this year I'm starting again and I'm going to do it...and I need your help to get it done!!! Christmas is upon us and so is the hustle and bustle. I'm busy baking, wrapping gifts, and getting the decorating done. I hope this finds all my loved ones, including friends, all well, happy, and safe. I'll check in again tomorrow and maybe I'll have a funny tale to tell!
